Systems Engineer II/III – Tecore Networks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years experience in the field of systems engineering with a strong Linux and IP networking background
  • This individual needs to be a self-starter, whose primary responsibilities will include design, implementation, and support of clustered virtual environments
  • Secondary responsibilities include documentation, direct and indirect customer support, and ongoing evaluation of emerging technologies
  • This position will also play a key role as a liaison between Engineering, IT, Systems Test and Operations

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Experience configuring and managing Layer-2 and Layer-3 switches
  • Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 network design and security concepts
  • Experience with documenting network and design requirements (Visio, Concept Draw, or Diag)
  • Experience with wireless technologies (2G GSM, 3G, LTE)
  • Experience with WiMax or 802.11 is a plus
  • Experience with Linux systems engineering (Red Hat variants):
    • Kernel development
    • RPM development & packaging tools
    • Virtualization (XEN, KVM, OpenVZ, Libvirt)
    • VM Cluster administration (Ganeti, Cloudstack, etc.)
    • Shell scripting
    • Storage – LVM, Soft/Hard Raid, SAN administration, DRDB, iSCSI, FCOE, and clustered file systems (GFS2, etc.)
    • PXE – Kickstart, Cobbler, or Spacewalk
    • SELinux
    • Packet filtering/Firewall
  • Experience Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, or Checkpoint security appliances
  • Experience with Cisco IDS/IPS and/or open-source alternatives (i.e. Snort)
  • Experience with IPSec and other VPN technologies
  • Experience with advanced IP analysis and capture tools (Wireshark, tcpdump, etc.)
  • P2VP tools and methods
  • Experience with SIP, H.323, and other VoIP technologies is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with Dell and HP server hardware is a plus, but not required
  • Solaris 10/11 experience is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with IP network simulation and concept testing is a plus, but not required
  • Experience with direct interaction with customers and vendors is a plus
  • Exceptional technical communication skills
  • Technical report writing experience
  • Travel – up to 25%
