Wireless Network Engineer (WL) – Tecore Networks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Internal and external support and management of wireless customer data equipment for IP and radio access network interfaces through requirement definition, configuration, testing and deployment phases
  • Review and optimization of existing wireless networks, customer network documentation, and integration of converged IP mobile network applications
  • Tecore is a 24/7 global environment and as such, this position requires some off-hour (evening and weekend) work, perhaps remotely, to ensure network issues are immediately addressed Position may require about 20% travel to customer sites

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems or other directly related field. M.S. in related filed a plus
  • Minimum of three years prior related wireless network engineering and/or network support experience
  • CCENT/CCNA and/or RHCE certification is a plus
  • Experience configuring and managing Cisco routers and switches
  • Experience with GPRS/EDGE wireless data technologies
  • Experience with UMTS and/or HSPA+
  • Exposure or experience with 1xRTT/EVDO wireless data technologies is a plus
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and managing GSM (GSN) equipment
  • Experience or exposure to CDMA (PDSN/HA) equipment is a plus
  • Experience with the Linux operating system (RedHat/CentOS preferred) Solid understanding of Linux operating system is required
  • Experience with GRE and GTP encapsulation for local and roaming configurations
  • Hands-on experience with 2G and 3G BSC/BTS and/or RNC/NodeB solutions
  • Experience with diagnostic tools such as Wireshark/Ethereal
  • Experience with SCTP, SUA, SCCP, M3UA, RANAP and NBAP signaling protocols
  • Exposure to Agilent or Anritsu spectrum and protocol analysis tools is a plus
  • Experience with documenting network and design using Visio, Concept Draw or Diag
  • Experience with or exposure to LTE is a plus
  • Experience with or exposure to CDMA (PDSN/HA) equipment is a plus
  • Experience with or exposure to configuring, troubleshooting, and managing GSM (GSN) equipment is a plus
  • Must be able to articulate design requirements and effectively communicate with project management and customers
  • PC server and desktop hardware experience is a plus, but not required
  • Prior experience in hands-on internal and external Tier 2 and 3 technical customer-related support is a plus and direct interaction with vendors is a plus
  • Exceptional technical and communication skills including report writing is a plus
