CCA Applauds Release of the American Broadband Initiative Milestones Report
Washington, DC – February 13, 2019 – Today, the Administration announced the American Broadband Initiative and released its “American Broadband Initiative Milestones Report,” (“Report”) outlining ways that the Federal Government can increase broadband access and spur private sector investment in broadband. Competitive Carriers Association (“CCA”) commends the Administration for releasing the Report, especially its focus on deploying broadband in rural areas and streamlining federal permitting processes.
In a statement, CCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry said, “I applaud the Administration’s release of the American Broadband Initiatives Report, in particular its focus on bringing broadband access to rural areas. Streamlining federal permitting processes, leveraging federal assets to expand infrastructure, and maximizing federal funding are critical steps to closing the digital divide.”
“CCA welcomes additional focus on preserving and expanding broadband access in rural areas. I thank the Administration, including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce, and all participating agencies, for their ongoing work on this important issue. CCA looks forward to continued work with policymakers to ensure no American – no matter where they live – is left behind in the digital world.”
