CCA Commends House Energy & Commerce Members for Introducing Several Bills Focused on Streamlining Broadband Infrastructure Deployment

Washington, DC – January 19, 2018 – Today, several Members of the House Energy & Commerce Committee (“Committee”) introduced another tranche of legislation focused on improving broadband infrastructure policies.  Competitive Carriers Association (“CCA”) commends Congress for introducing the bills and resolutions, as streamlined infrastructure processes will help accelerate broadband infrastructure deployment for the benefit of the economy and consumers.

In a statement, CCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry said, “I applaud Members of the House Energy & Commerce Committee for introducing several legislative initiatives focused on improving and streamlining infrastructure policies.  With over a dozen bills pending before the Committee, action to streamline processes with fewer barriers to deployment, increased process certainty, and reliable data will help expand mobile broadband services, particularly to rural areas. These legislative efforts are concrete steps by Congress to provide all Americans with the benefits mobile broadband connectivity brings.  I’m glad policymakers understand the importance of mobile broadband and support swift consideration by the Committee.  All consumers, no matter where they live, work or travel, should have access to robust broadband services, especially in today’s world and consumers’ insatiable demand for ubiquitous service.”

“Mobile broadband is one of the most effective economic drivers in today’s connected world. Rural consumers, schools, health care facilities, public safety services, small businesses, and the overall economy all will benefit from accelerated broadband deployment and investment from the mobile industry.  I thank the Committee Members for their significant attention to deploying broadband infrastructure and look forward to working with Congress to ensure helpful legislation moves forward.”
