Industry Leaders Gather to Share Innovation and Insight post

Denver, Colorado - The main stage program at CCA’s Mobile Carriers Show (MCS) opened this morning, welcoming communications service providers and industry stakeholders who analyzed the innovations, technologies, and visionary insights that are shaping the future of the telecom industry. MCS takes place April 14-16 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

In opening remarks, CCA’s CEO and President Tim Donovan commented, “We cannot assume connectivity will always be available—it needs to be actively championed and defended.”

Addressing the Universal Service Fund, Donovan said, “Certainty in USF funding, including clarity from the Supreme Court, is essential. Additionally, the USF must continue to support network operations, especially as roaming revenues have declined.”

Media partner Fierce Network hosted an executive panel examining the current landscape of the telecom industry, titled “Broadband Initiatives in the Trump Administration.” Speakers included panel moderator Linda Hardesty, Executive Editor and Chief Analyst, Fierce Network; Chris Champion, VP, Government Relations, C Spire; Bryan Darr, VP - Government Affairs, Ookla; and George Kamba, Director of Government Affairs, UScellular.

“Thank you to our keynote panel for sharing their insight and perspective on issues impacting network operators, including the BEAD Program, USF, and spectrum auction authority,” said Tim Donovan. "MCS is the ideal venue for having meaningful discussions on policy issues and other key topics for competitive carriers, and it is extremely important to hear directly from those ‘on the playing field.’”

Tomorrow’s keynote schedule includes:

  • 9:00 am MT – Excellence in Marketing Awards Presentation
  • 9:15 am MT – Fireside chat with Eben Albertyn, EVP and Chief Technology Officer, Boost Mobile and Tim Donovan, President & CEO, CCA
  • 9:30 am MT – Scott Poretsky, Director of Security, Ericsson North America, on the ability to defend against Advanced Persistent Threats
