CCA Elects 2024/2025 Board of Directors

Washington, D.C. – Today, during its 2024 Annual Convention, Competitive Carriers Association (CCA) elected its 2024/2025 Board of Directors.

CCA’s 2024/2025 Chair of the Board, Maureen McCabe Moore, SVP and Chief Customer Experience Officer, GCI Communications Corp., said, “It is an honor and pleasure to serve as CCA’s Chair for the upcoming year. CCA is made up of a group of very dedicated, advocacy-oriented competitive carriers, and I look forward to working with fellow CCA colleagues.”

CCA’s President and CEO, Tim Donovan said, “I am very pleased that such an outstanding group of individuals is committed to advancing CCA’s policy issues. With several critical advocacy issues on the table, I look forward to having the leadership and guidance of the Officers and Board to ensure competitive carriers can compete and thrive for years to come.”

Statement by CCA President & CEO on Preserving Wireless Service in Rural Areas

Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement regarding the keynote presentation made by CCA Board Member Slayton Stewart at MWC-Las Vegas 2024 today: “I commend Slayton Stewart, CEO of Carolina West Wireless and long-time CCA Board Member, for highlighting the critical need for federal policies to preserve wireless service in rural areas. Federal programs, like the Universal Service Fund, are essential to maintaining services in areas where carriers like Carolina West Wireless face unique challenges due to difficult terrain, low population density, and limited revenue streams. As roaming revenues have decreased across the industry, many rural towers built with Universal Service Fund support are at risk of being decommissioned, cutting off vital connectivity for residents and compromising public safety. Support for operating expenses for existing wireless infrastructure is critical to ensuring rural communities remain connected, and this includes making sure the 5G Fund and other Universal Service Fund programs provide resources to preserve as well as expand wireless connectivity. Statement by CCA President & CEO Tim Donovan on EchoStar Corporation and Additional Spectrum Opportunities for Small and Tribal Carriers

Washington, D.C., – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement: “CCA welcomes Echostar’s proposal to expand spectrum leasing opportunities to small and tribal competitive carriers in the United States. 600 MHz, 700 MHz, AWS, and CBRS spectrum are potentially attractive to many rural competitive carriers seeking to expand and upgrade their services. The prolonged lapse of FCC spectrum auction authority and the lack of a robust spectrum pipeline containing the types of spectrum needed most by rural and tribal carriers to serve their customers is a significant problem.
