CCA statement on the FCC’s new broadband data maps

November 18, 2022

Statement by President & CEO Steven K. Berry: “CCA congratulates the FCC for releasing the first iteration of the new National Broadband Maps. The new maps are key to advancing broadband deployment efforts such as the BEAD program and will be a tremendous resource for policymakers in closing the digital divide and achieving ubiquitous nationwide broadband. With this step complete, we, and our members, look forward to digging into the data and participating in the challenge process as appropriate. CCA looks forward to utilizing the maps and engaging with policymakers to ensure that mobile and fixed wireless broadband have a prominent role in the United States’ broadband landscape. With the mapping milestone completed and as the challenge process goes forward, it is clear that BEAD funding will advance with clarity. It is also clear that the time is ripe for the FCC to revisit its 5G Fund priorities to support mobile wireless and ensure policies are in place to support ubiquitous 5G wireless services for every consumer.”
