CCA statement on the markup of the Spectrum Innovation Act

June 15, 2022

CCA President & CEO Steven K. Berry: “I commend the Subcommittee for today’s markup, and for moving several important bills forward to preserve and expand wireless services and competition to benefit consumers. I am extremely pleased that the bipartisan Spectrum Innovation Act of 2022 will make at least 200 MHz of spectrum available for commercial wireless use, and I especially applaud the Subcommittee for adding sections to help fund the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act Reimbursement Program. This significant legislation could now fully fund the Program, which is critical for affected carriers, and I also support adding funding for Next Generation 9-1-1 services.

I also applaud efforts to ensure that spectrum auction authority will not lapse. Consumers, especially those in rural areas, will benefit tremendously. CCA fully supports passage of these important bills, and thanks Chairman Pallone, Republican Leader McMorris Rodgers, Chairman Doyle, Republican Leader Latta, Representatives Matsui and Guthrie, and all of the Subcommittee for their leadership on these issues.”
