CCA on Select Committee on CCP Report

December 12, 2023

Washington, D.C., – Competitive Carriers Association President and CEO Tim Donovan made the following statement on the release of recommendations from the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party:

“CCA welcomes the recommendation to fully fund the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program in the bipartisan report released by the House Select Committee and commends the bipartisan leadership of Committee Chairman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) and Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) for their commitment to national security.

'Reset, Prevent, Build: A Strategy to Win America's Economic Competition with the Chinese Communist Party' recommends that Congress fully fund the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program, known as ‘rip and replace,’ to remove untrusted network equipment in U.S. telecommunication networks. Carriers began this significant work as directed by Congress, but a funding shortfall of $3.08 billion remains. Congress must immediately provide full funding to secure our nation’s networks and prevent any loss to vital communications services.”
